Our purpose is to unite fellow K car owners and their cars at monthly meetings and events. As a member, not only will you have fun, but you will help keep the K car on the road. This car saved Chrysler from bankruptcy in the 1980s and is one of the few so-called “economy cars” of the 80s that are still seen on the road on a regular basis. The Chrysler 2.2 and 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engines are solid reliable power plants that continue to make the K car a fun, cheap, and reliable ride for the person who is either low on funds, not wrapped up with the power or looks of a car, or just admires this car in general for the fun reliable economy car it is. It is the car that saved Chrysler and came in many configurations for the public and law enforcement alike.

Over 3 million of these cars were produced and put on the roads in the 80s by Plymouth, Dodge, and Chrysler alike! Most of the pre85 K car sedans and wagons are now almost impossible to find. This makes this club all the more important to expand and provide a fun place for car owners like us to socialize and keep these cars on the road. Listed below are the K car models. These models also include all the 80s E cars which are really K cars with a few extra inches of length and trunk height. If you own one of these cars, we encourage you to join by filling out the form here. Your car does not have to be in showroom condition. Most old cars are not. We even welcome beat up beaters or cars that look like a hundred years old. However, we just ask that the cars be washed for an event and look presentable. There is no admission fee.

This is your volunteer organization. We need assistance and more members. At the moment, our club is based in Los Angeles. Our club had its first official event at the Spring Fling Mopar Show in May 2007. Three K cars from the Los Angeles/So Cal area were there and one of the K car owners won a trophy for his car’s original mint condition. Here is the link to the event at

http://www.cardomain.com/event/2007/05/13/MOP?c=0&p=5. It contains hundreds of pictures. We are planning to host more members

at the Fall Fling Mopar Show in Van Nuys in October. Even if you can not attend, you still have a great opportunity. You can all start your own local K car clubs. Encourage K car owners to bring their cars to local shows and cruise-ins. Promote advertising and spread the word to such online auto gr oups as the LeBaron Club. All of you have permission to print this webpage and spread the word. If enough of you get involved and start local chapters, we can form a strong coast to coast club with local and national car shows.  If there are any fees, it will only be for possible future events that may cost money. We are small at the moment, but we are growing.

There is also a classic car show in Calabasas, California where the owner lets almost anyone sponsor a particular car of interest. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get more K cars to attend this show and sit among the Ferraris and some of the more expensive cars. The possibilities are endless! This show is supposed to be for all car nuts. K cars are starting to show up at local Chrysler car shows. Don’t let people convince you your car is not worth showing off or preserving. It is a classic, whether certain collectors like it or not. Do not be ashamed to come to a show because it is not perfect or has problems. Just make sure it is clean. There is plenty of car bashing and the K car is one of many so-called bashed cars. So was the Ford Pinto and Yugo, and yet these models now have a car club. You will get shunned by some Mopar people that think K cars are garbage. They are entitled to their opinions as much as you and I.

We will also set you up with a free link to an online forum club for K cars at www.allpar.com. This site will give you free repair tips and communication with other K car owners. These people are excellent in locating parts for your car. We are working on finding a way to make parts more available. It is not easy as K cars are considered “disposable” and they are now over 20 years old. One good supplier of rare Mopar parts is located in South Carolina at http://nos-mopar-parts.stores.yahoo.net/info.html. Listed below are the K car models:
